Snack Review: Baba Joon’s Apricot Chewie

I met the owners of Baba Joon’s Chocolate Chewies at the Gluten-Free, Allergen-Free Expo in San Francisco. They were eager to tell me about their chocolate chewies in 10 different flavors, and even more eager for me to try them. At the point that I stopped by their booth, I admit I was getting a bit overloaded with tasting lots of cookies and baked goods at the Expo. But, I tried them anyway and I was amazed. These little cookies, with so few ingredients, really packed a taste wallop! I was thrilled to take home a box of their Apricot Chewies to write this review.

Baba Joon’s Chocolate Chewie’s is a family-owned and operated business that has been making these delectable cookies since 1984. As I mentioned, the cookies come in 10 flavors: Apricot, Coconut, Coconut Almond, Ginger Almond, Hazelnut Coconut, Mexicali, Orange Almond, Roasted Peanut, Tart Cherry, and Walnut. They are only sold in stores in Northern California, but you can purchase them online directly from Baba Joon’s.

The Apricot Chewie is a mix of chocolate and apricot flavors. They only have 36 calories each, so they are a great treat if you are watching your calories. The flavor profile is a balance of sweet and tart, making them very satisfying. I’m not a fan of sugary snacks, so I found these to be very pleasing to my palate.
